2021 Bay County SHRM Chapter President

Greetings!

I am extremely honored to serve as Bay County SHRM’s 2021 President and to be affiliated with such a group of dedicated and hard-working professionals. Needless to say, the past few years have demonstrated the tenacity and resilience of our membership.  In what seems like yesterday, we experienced a category five hurricane and now find ourselves in the middle of a global pandemic.  I’m pretty sure we all would agree that we could have lived without the hurricane recovery and pandemic expertise that we have now gained.

Like many of you, I had high hopes of returning to in person chapter meetings in 2021. Unfortunately, with the recent spike in covid cases, it appears that we will need to continue virtual meetings for the time being. The need for local chapter involvement and professional networking is more important than ever and I’m counting on your support.  Challenging times create opportunities and introduce creative approaches for supporting our workplaces. I encourage you to give yourself a break from your busy schedule and join us at our monthly meetings, which will expose you to new and innovative ways to enhance your knowledge, your career, and your organization. As a pre-approved provider with both SHRM and HRCI, we are pleased that we can assist you in obtaining recertification credits with our educational sessions.

In 2021, we will be focusing on our membership, which means YOU!  Therefore, we have scheduled meaningful programming and networking opportunities that will contribute to your professional development. In addition, we have some exciting service initiatives planned that will allow our membership to showcase their skills and experience while giving back to our wonderful community. We also have a few surprises planned for you along the way; one of which includes a new membership incentive program where you can earn redeemable points to use towards some pretty cool items in a silent auction at the end of the year.

If you are interested in becoming a volunteer leader, please contact a member of our board of directors or come to one of our chapter meetings. Keep in mind we are always looking for intriguing speakers and meeting sponsors. Please let us know if you have suggestions.

I look forward to departing from a world of virtual meetings and seeing you in person soon at one of our chapter meetings. Please feel free to contact me at president@baycountyshrm.org if there is ever anything that I can assist you with.

Let’s leave 2020 behind us and work together to make 2021 the best year yet!

Warmest Regards,

Stephanie Conn, SPHR, SHRM-SCP
