Active Shooter Preparedness

Ø Define Workplace Violence - Violence or the threat of violence against workers. It can occur at or outside the workplace and can range from threats and verbal abuse to physical assaults and homicide, one of the leading causes of job-related death.

Ø Define Active Shooter - An individual actively engaged in killing or attempting to kill people in a confined and populated area; in most cases, active shooters use firearms(s) and there is no pattern or method to their selection of victims.

Marsha Lacey is the Director of Human Resources at LBA Hospitality, a hotel management company that manages over 60 hotels in the Southeast. She has a proven record of success in a variety of industries to include staffing, non-profit, and manufacturing.  She is recognized for building strong interpersonal relationships within all levels of the company through effective and open communication. Prior to her civilian profession, she also served in the U. S. Air Force as a Personnel Specialist.  She holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a focus in Human Resources, as well as the Professional in Human Resources (PHR) and SHRM Certified Professional (CP) certifications. She will also graduate in 2017 with a Master of Science in Human Resource Management.

Marsha has a passion for understanding people and helping them unlock their potential through development.  She is committed to growing the HR profession by sharing her experience and knowledge whenever given the opportunity. She has filled multiple volunteer leadership roles within SHRM through both her local and state Chapters and other organizations within her community. When she is not pursuing her passions within HR, she enjoys traveling, the outdoors, and spending time with her husband, two children, and most recently - her first granddaughter.
